Diabetes Care
According to the American Diabetes Association, diabetes affects more than 37 million people in the United States. Diabetes affects how the body controls blood glucose (or blood sugar). Diabetes is classified as chronic conditions, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and reversible conditions, gestational diabetes and prediabetes.
At Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital, the diabetic education program is designed to help you better manage diabetes. We offer information about living with diabetes, including managing medications, increasing physical activity, performing blood glucose testing, taking preventative measures and working to develop better nutrition.
Our diabetes self management program provides diabetics with individualized education designed to address living—and eating—with diabetes. A certified diabetes educator and registered dietitian will teach you self-management skills, including:
- Meal planning
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Sick day management
- Medication scheduling
